It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! On October 23rd, 2021 we turned 50 years old as an organization and we did so virtually and apart. But today we are happy to officially release and announce that the AVC and planning committee are moving forward with our plans.
Nearly 2 years ago in February 2020, a group of alumni and undergrads got together at LTU for the initial planning session of the 50th Anniversary Celebration intended to take place in Fall 2021. Several key directives and goals were set and we were getting ready to go. Little did we know that only a few short weeks later the world would be engulfed by the start of a pandemic. In Fall 2020, with difficulty predicting what a year later would look like, and venues not willing to commit to booking dates the AVC made the decision to move the event to Fall 2022 where we would look to celebrate this milestone WITHIN our 50th year rather than at the turn of it. We acknowledge that not every corner of the pandemic has been turned but we are committed to planning a safe, fun, responsible event!
Theme - We Stand on the Shoulders of Giants
As we approach celebrating this milestone, it only seems appropriate as we look back over the last 50 years to use this message we’ve heard so many times as our central theme. We will strive to highlight and celebrate the giants of our time, both the people and the accomplishments, and look forward to the future so that we may continue to build giants that will support the next generation MI Thetas.
Itinerary Outlook
The goal of this much anticipated event is to not limit it to just one singular night, but instead enjoy a long weekend of festivities that celebrate various parts of our brotherhood. While the main event will be Saturday night, each day will look to accomplish something different connecting us back to our values and principles, celebrating both our brotherhood family and those that support us everyday, and the campus that brought us all together. Below is a general breakdown of the vision that the 50th Anniversary Committee has. If you are from out of town, we hope that you will consider coming to town early and if you are local we hope you consider joining for as many events as your schedule allows.
Thursday - Evening
Ritual Followed by Afterglow
Festivities will be kicked off with a focus on Brotherly Love. The goal of Thursday evening is to celebrate the principles that bind us all together through the Ritual with an afterglow event.
Friday - All Day Events
Family and Brother Activities
This day we will look to incorporate a wide variety of options for those that want to celebrate with brothers but also involve family. Options offered may include:
- Morning Golf (weather permitting)

- Local Dinners or Happy Hours
Saturday - All Day Events
Campus Focused and Main Events
On Saturday we will return to our roots and focus on Campus. For those who haven’t returned in a while we the undergrads are prepared to give tours. LTU also now has a football team and there will be a tailgate as well as a memorial dedication prior to our main evening banquet.
- LTU Football Tailgate and Game
- Campus Tours
- Memorial Dedication
- Main Events at the Westin Ballrooms (evening)
Sunday - Morning
Brunch
To wrap up the weekend and see everyone off the next morning, we are looking at brunch options either at the hotel or at a local establishment.
